Professional Responsibility

Melinda has two decades of experience practicing in professional responsibility, discipline, and ethics matters. During her time at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), she spent more than 12 years in the Office of the Solicitor litigating disciplinary cases and enforcing the USPTO’s Rules of Professional Conduct. Prior to litigating, she served in the Office of
Enrollment and Discipline (OED) for 5 years conducting disciplinary and moral character investigations.


Melinda also served as an attorney in the IRS’s Office of Professional Responsibility investigating discipline matters and enforcing the rules set forth in the Treasury Department Circular 230.


Melinda now uses her expertise defending her clients in their professional conduct matters to include disciplinary investigations and litigation, and moral character inquiries. She also provides ethics advice to clients seeking to align their practice with applicable ethics rules.
